Isrotel Sea Tower Hotel and Bugrashov Beach

Bugrashov Beach is one of the most interesting vantage points in Tel Aviv from which to view the coastline. From the pier extending from the beach, you can see nearly the entire urban shoreline, and in panorama it unfolds from south to north: Jaffa, the colorful Dan Hotel whose facade was designed by the late Yaacov Agam, Atarim Square, and the marina. Directly opposite the pier stands the Isrotel Sea Tower Hotel, with its distinctive circular structure designed by the late architect Eli Gvirtzman, and its unique element—the rooftop with blue steps leading to the highest open-air pool in Israel.

I photographed the first panorama, from the pier, back in 2014. Nearly a decade later, in 2023, I decided to reach the very point I had been looking at all those years—the Sea Tower rooftop. It turns out that all you need to photograph from there is simply to ask nicely. So I asked, and indeed received permission to go up, and here is the result.

From above, you gain an entirely different perspective. And so two panoramas were created, nearly ten years apart, from both sides of the same coastline: one from the pier, facing the sea, and the other from the rooftop, above the city.
