Kibbutzim Stream and Mitzpe HaShlosha

Nahal Hakibbutzim is one of the most special places in the Valley of Springs. The cold, clear water flows between reeds and vegetation that whispers in the wind. Among the trees, you can find shady and pleasant spots for a picnic or a light rest before returning to soak in the water.

At the heart of the experience is the pipe – a concrete slide where the stream’s water flows strongly. Some caution is needed when using it; I myself once lost a pair of glasses there. צריך קצת זהירות כשמשתמשים בו; אני בעצמי איבדתי שם פעם זוג משקפיים. There used to be two pipes here, but between 2016 and 2020 the place was renovated and replaced with one pipe. I didn’t dare check if the flow is stronger in one…

The stream combines wild nature with a regulated pool. I photographed the upper panorama from the open area of the stream, while the children’s pool, which can be seen in the accompanying pictures, has a more relaxed atmosphere. After the pool, the water continues in a canal with a strong current that adds another dimension of adventure.

Access is very convenient – there is free parking right next to the stream. And if you arrive on a weekday that is not a holiday, there is a good chance of finding the place completely quiet, almost private.

Above the stream rises Tel Shokek, and on it, the Three Lookout – an old watchtower, which as of 2010 was neglected, and I find it hard to believe that it is renovated today. Then it was open, and there was also a rusty ladder, so of course I climbed it (carefully!) and photographed a 360-degree panorama. From this height, the wide view is revealed: agricultural fields, winding roads, and the Gilboa Mountains, which are clearly visible in the background. The connection between the cool water and the open landscape around it makes the place unique and worth a visit.
