Hexagon Pool

On a hot summer day, we traveled to the Golan Heights to go rafting, and for this occasion, my wife bought me a waterproof camera for my birthday. We arrived at the Hexagon Pool, a unique and beautiful place. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, and the clear, cold water in the background made the photography an amazing experience.

The Hexagon Pool is located in the Yehudiya Nature Reserve in the southern Golan Heights. The pool was named for the unique hexagonal formation of the surrounding stones. These hexagons are, in fact, basalt columns, formed by volcanic activity that occurred in the area millions of years ago. As basaltic lava solidified and cooled slowly, cracks formed in a hexagonal pattern due to material contraction. This process created the impressive geometric shapes visible today in and around the pool. The site has become a popular tourist attraction due to its rare natural beauty. A visit to the Hexagon Pool is a unique experience, combining breathtaking natural scenery with a fascinating geological phenomenon.

After an enjoyable day at the pool, the climb back up was exhausting but rewarding. The winding path and steep ascents required physical effort, but the breathtaking views of the reserve and the photos I took made the journey worthwhile. The feeling of completing the trail and the amazing experiences along the way made the day unforgettable.
