      The walk to Gev (pool) Yamin begins on an exposed desert trail, not far from the main road leading south from Dimona. There’s no external sign to prepare you for what’s hidden between the rock walls – Yamin Stream, dry most of the year, suddenly opens up to a wide pool, enclosed by golden cliffs. Those arriving here for the first time are surprised – within the harsh desert, a place full of life suddenly appears. <\/span><\/p>

      The water in the pool is relatively shallow, slightly murky from the color of sand and mud, but cool and pleasant. Surrounding it are stone walls in shades of gold, orange, and ochre, peeling and rounding with time, as if someone had carefully sculpted them. A look upwards reveals conical peaks and sharp cuts, layers of limestone and sandstone creating almost geometric patterns. <\/p>

      Looking closely at the first panorama, one can discern children bathing, people standing in the water, a dog running between the bushes – all of these appear small against the mighty rocks that enclose the basin from all sides. The feeling is of a protected, semi-secret corner. Everyone there shares simple moments of quiet, bathing, or just observing nature. <\/p>

      In the second panorama, shot from above, the full perspective is revealed: the path leading to the pool, the rock walls opening like a gate, and the desert horizon beyond. From here, you can see the entire stream – not just the water, but also the surrounding environment – broom bushes, rocks that have rolled downhill, and people as small as ants in a broad picture of time. <\/p>

      The uniqueness of Neve Yamin lies not only in its landscape – but in the sense of discovery it evokes. Within a harsh, arid, and empty desert, this pool waits like a secret revealed only to those who make the effort to reach it. It’s a place not visible from the road, not heard about on the radio – you need to walk, exert yourself, sweat a little – and then suddenly it appears. The pool itself isn’t large, but the space around it opens like a natural amphitheater – the high rock walls embrace you from all sides, creating a sense of protection. The air there is different – quieter, thicker – as if time slows down. Sometimes you hear the voices of children jumping into the water, or a dog shaking off after a dip, but beyond that – there’s almost no noise. Just a slight rustle of reeds, or a bird’s shadow passing momentarily between the cliffs. It’s a place where you can stay for a long time without doing anything – just sit, look, breathe.
