Rothschild Boulevard, Tel Aviv - During the Tent Protest Days (Summer 2011)

On a very hot day in early August, I went out and for the first time saw the “tent city” which greatly impressed me. Naturally, I took out my camera and started walking from Allenby, two steps click, two steps click… occasionally peeking inside. This continued until Habima Square, where I took another 360-degree panorama.

In total, I took 323 photos on Rothschild (of which 58 were discarded on the editing room floor, which is of course my living room). The result – a mega-panorama of 18.5 meters.

I wanted to display this enormous panorama in the Rothschild area itself, more precisely at the corner of Bar-Ilan Street, where the protest tent of parents with special needs children was located – a quiet protest (too quiet?) that I not only sympathize with, but also live. However, by the time I prepared the panorama, the tent had been dismantled, and in its place, an exhibit was set up, and the protesting parents returned to care for their children who didn’t understand what the commotion was about.

Eventually, the panorama was placed in a very prestigious location – the Naftali Building, the Faculty of Social Sciences at Tel Aviv University, along with other photos from the protests – a project I called “Faces of Protest”.
